Today, the staff at Club Sapphire are proudly participating in ‘Wear Purple Day’ to show their support for raising awareness about domestic and family violence (DFV). This important initiative is a collaboration between the Rotary Club of Merimbula, NSW Police, and the South Coast Domestic Violence Committee.
Raising Awareness and Sparking Conversations
‘Wear Purple Day’ aims to spark meaningful conversations and shed light on the prevalence of domestic violence within our communities. It serves as a reminder of the impact of DFV and the urgent need for action and support for those affected.
Unfortunately, recent statistics reveal the stark reality of DFV on the Far South Coast, with 1,454 referrals made in the past 12 months. Among these, 390 referrals were classified as serious threats, highlighting the severity of the issue.
Standing Against Domestic Violence
Club Sapphire’s participation in ‘Wear Purple Day’ demonstrates their commitment to standing against domestic violence and supporting initiatives that promote awareness and advocacy for those impacted by DFV. By wearing purple, the staff symbolically show solidarity with survivors and send a powerful message of support and unity.
Join Club Sapphire and the community in raising awareness about domestic violence. Let’s work together to create a safer, more supportive environment for all individuals affected by DFV.
